The laser sends light energy to the pigment (melanin) in the hair root. That energy is converted into heat, which disables the hair follicle. Because hair grows in cycles, several sessions are needed to treat all follicles in their active growth phase.

On average 6 to 8 sessions, depending on the area, your skin and hair type and hormonal factors. During the free consultation we make a realistic estimate for your areas. With our 5+1 arrangement you get the sixth session free after five sessions.

Yes. Thanks to the Nd:YAG wavelength (1064 nm) of the GentleMax Pro Plus we can also treat dark skin safely, where older lasers and IPL carried a risk of burns.

Yes, ideally shave the area 24 hours beforehand. That keeps the hair root intact while the hair on the surface is short — which gives the best and most comfortable result. Do not epilate, wax or bleach in the weeks before.

As a precaution we do not treat during pregnancy. There is no evidence of harm, but hormonal fluctuations also make the result less predictable. After the birth (and breastfeeding) we are happy to help you.

Home devices are usually IPL with much lower energy and a small range. A medical laser such as the GentleMax Pro Plus is more powerful, works on more skin types, gives a lasting result faster and is used by a certified specialist.
